Course Description:
This programme is designed to provide foundational knowledge and practical skills in library operations, cataloguing, classification, information services, preservation and conservation and the use of basic ICT tools in libraries. It prepares participants to function as assistant library officers in schools, public libraries, special libraries, information centers and any records generating organisation such as bank, hospital, ministries and the likes.
Course Objectives:
- Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Understand the roles and functions of different types of libraries.
- Perform basic cataloguing, classification, and library operations.
- Assist library users in retrieving and utilizing information resources.
- Operate basic ICT tools used in libraries and information centers.
- Apply effective communication and study skills in professional settings.
Entry Requirements:
SSCE, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB with at least four passes, including English Language.
Course Duration: 6 Months Full-Time Study
Includes classroom lectures, practical sessions, and library attachment.
